Jakob Ingebrigtsen is one of the greatest middle- and long-distance runners of all time: double Olympic champion, multiple world champion and holder of several world records. He is also a COROS athlete, and in 2026 the partnership went through its most demanding chapter so far, from Achilles surgery to a season that ended with gold medals.

2026: from surgery to an unexpectedly strong season

Ingebrigtsen had surgery on his left Achilles tendon early in 2026, after the injury had troubled him through the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo. He did not race for about ten months.

  • European Championships, Birmingham (10 August): Gold in the 5000m in 13:15.29 in his first race after surgery. It was his fourth consecutive European 5000m title.
  • World Athletics Ultimate Championship, Budapest (11 September): Gold in the 5000m in 12:59.24, 0.81 seconds ahead of Cole Hocker.
  • World Road Running Championships, Copenhagen (19 September): Silver over 5 km in 12:59, a Norwegian record, three seconds behind Dawit Seare. The race fell on his 26th birthday.
  • RunFest Norway, Sandnes (early October): Wins over 1500m and 5000m at the street running festival he founded with his brothers in his hometown, which closed his season.

Training with COROS

Ingebrigtsen trains with the COROS PACE 4 and the COROS Heart Rate Monitor, worn on the upper arm, and follows his workload and performance trends in COROS Training Hub.

"I've reached a level where marginal gains make the difference between gold and silver. With COROS, I get access to detailed performance metrics that help me refine my training and maximize my potential," says Ingebrigtsen.

The data mattered more than ever in 2026. Coming back from Achilles surgery is about managing load precisely rather than simply running more, and objective numbers are a better guide than feel in that kind of build.

The PACE 4 Jakob Ingebrigtsen "Fearless" Edition

In May 2026, COROS released a special edition of the PACE 4 developed together with Ingebrigtsen. The black and gold design references his Olympic titles in Tokyo and Paris. It has a transparent dial, a custom watch face with a 03:25 timestamp (a nod to the 1500m mark he is chasing), and a jacquard-woven nylon band in golden yarn with the FEARLESS mantra. A matching Fearless edition of the COROS Heart Rate Monitor was released alongside it.
